It has light to golden yellow in the glass, barrel fermentation and time in oak to round the usually piercing tropical influences of Sauvignon Blanc, and with fruits tending to pear and myer lemon with feigned richness from the newer oak.
Sidewood Estate's Fume Blanc is just a small project to show just how versatile and incredible Sauvignon Blanc can be. This unique barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc is made from individually selected vines from Sidewood's Mappinga Road vineyard, all and-picked and using only free-running juice.

Lifted aromatics and luxuriant mouth-filling flavours of ripe pear, mandarin and lemon pith with a hint of honeysuckle. This complex wine spent extended time on lees creating a creamy texture, balanced by a lively clean citrus line of vibrant acidity.
"The wine is complex, layered and has a long herbaceous finish. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve for the next five years"

VIneyard | The Vineyard on Mappinga Road in the Adelaide Hills is at 355m-391m above sea level but in a ultra-cool basin of the Mount Lofty ranges. This means that whilst there are higher altitude vineyards, the cool air drops into our basin and makes it one of the coldest vineyards in the Hills.
THE LENGTH IS EXCELLENT
This wine is defined by texture and mouthfeel, it builds in flavour and concentration in the same way you expect Pinot Noir to have a ‘peacocks tail’ with its impact growing over time. Acidity is well managed, taking on a citrus edge and creating an enjoyable contrast between richer oak and ever so slightly fuller stone fruits. The length is excellent to finish, a serious wine that will get better over the next few years"
